Will Remote Data Backup work with Windows Vista?
The current version of Remote Data Backups will not run on the Windows Vista operating system.
We will release an updated version, expected later in 2007, to support Vista. We strongly advise you to wait before upgrading to Windows Vista at least for a few months.
Upgrading to a completely new OS before major bugs are corrected can cause a labyrinth of unforseen computer problems. Other major software and hardware manufacturers (iTunes, CNET, NVIDIA, etc.), and many computer experts, are issuing similar warnings at this time.
If you decide to initiate your OS upgrade, the Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor will list all your hardware and software that may have compatibility issues.
Remember to first print out your account information (including the encryption key) from the PC Data Backups software. Choose:
Options > Security > View Encryption Key > Print
You can use this information to retrieve any backed up files using the Remote File Access on our support page (some Outlook files may not be accessible).
